OFFICIAL RULES FOR SAGE PRIZE DRAWS

These Official Rules, together with any specific rules or conditions explained or notified by SAGE as relevant to this Prize Draw (a Prize Draw Notice) apply to entrants completing the relevant action required to be entered into the competition being run by SAGE (the Prize Draw). A Prize Draw Notice may be published on SAGE’s website(s), on Twitter from the account registered at https://twitter.com/SAGElibrarynews and https://twitter.com/SAGE_Methods (SAGE’s Twitter Channels).

By entering the Prize Draw you agree to be bound by these Official Rules, the SAGE Privacy Policy and, where applicable, the SAGE Online Terms & Conditions (each of which can be found at https://connection.sagepub.com. If you do not agree to comply with these Official Rules, the SAGE Online Terms & Conditions or the Privacy Policy (as applicable) please do not enter the Prize Draw.

By participating in this Prize Draw, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and by the decisions of SAGE, which are final in all matters relating to this Prize Draw.

INTRODUCTION

This Prize Draw is organised by SAGE Publications Ltd whose address is at 1 Oliver’s Yard, 55 City Road, London EC1Y 1SP (SAGE).

SAGE reserves the right to cancel or amend the Prize Draw or these Official Rules and to cancel or refuse any individual’s entry at any time without prior notice. Any such changes will be posted on the SAGE website https://connection.sagepub.com.

ELIGIBILITY

The Prize Draw is open to all individuals who are at least 18 years of age or, if higher than 18 years of age, the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence at the time of entry.

No employees of SAGE (or its group companies) or any of their relatives, nor any representatives, agents (including employees of the same) or persons connected to the Prize Draw (or members of their families) are eligible to win the Prize Draw. “Relatives” includes immediate family members (spouse, parent, sibling or child or their respective spouses) or those residing in the same household.

The eligibility of any entrant is at the sole discretion of SAGE. If ineligible, entrants will not be entitled to receive a Prize and any Prize awarded may be revoked.

HOW TO ENTER

Entries must be submitted during the period specified in the Official Prize Draw Notice (Entry Period) or as specified on SAGE’s Twitter Channel and/or SAGE’s Facebook Channel.

Entries must be submitted during the Entry Period or will be deemed to be invalid. Entries must be submitted in accordance with the instructions and/or requirements (including method of entry) set out in these Official Rules and in any Prize Draw Notice.

During the Entry Period, an eligible entrant may visit http://www.twitter.com, log on to his or her Twitter account (or create one if he or she does not already have an account), and follow one of SAGE’s Twitter Channels @SAGE_Methods or @SAGElibrarynews. Entrants may submit an entry during the Entry Period by posting a message to SAGE’s Twitter Channels as directed by a Prize Draw Notice.

Each Twitter message will count as one entry and entrants may submit only one entry per Twitter message. After the first entry made by a particular entrant during the Entry Period, additional entry submissions will not result in additional entries. Automated, bulk or third party entries will not be valid.

Entrants must have a non-private Twitter account to enter the Prize Draw and must be a follower of SAGE’s Twitter Channels for at least sixty days following the Entry Period (for winner notification purposes) to be eligible to claim the Prize. Each entrant may only use one Twitter account to enter. Entrants attempting to use multiple accounts or multiple identities may be disqualified, at SAGE’s sole discretion.

Entrants’ use of Twitter will be subject to Twitter’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, which can be found at http://www.twitter.com.

Lost, delayed or incomplete entries (caused by corruption of data transmission or otherwise) will not be accepted and SAGE takes no responsibility for entries that are lost, delayed or not received for any reason.

Where applicable, entrants confirm that by entering the Prize Draw their entry: (i) includes information that is true, current and complete; (ii) is not obscene, disparaging or critical of any person, offensive, likely to infringe the rights of any third party or is otherwise unlawful. SAGE reserves the right to disqualify from the Prize Draw any entries which contravene, or are found to contravene, any of the criteria set out in this Condition 3.8 or are deemed by SAGE to be critical of SAGE.

PRIZE DETAILS

The nature and the total number of Prizes will be published via a Prize Draw Notice.

SAGE may, at its sole discretion, substitute Prizes of equal or greater value (including cash) in the event that the stated Prizes are unavailable. Prizes cannot be substituted, redeemed for cash or transferred except as otherwise provided in these Official Rules.

Unless otherwise expressly stated herein, in any Prize Draw Notice or otherwise expressly agreed or notified by SAGE in advance and in writing, all taxes, insurances, transfers, spending money and other expenses that are connected with the Prize are the sole responsibility of the Prize Winner and are not included in the Prize.

AWARDING OF PRIZES

Unless otherwise stated in any Prize Draw Notice, the Prize Draw will take place within fourteen (14) days after the end of the Entry Period. All qualifying entries will be placed into the draw, with the Prize Winner(s) chosen at random (the Prize Winner). The Prize Winner shall receive a Prize. Non-winning entries from the Entry Period will not “roll-over” into other prize draws or promotions organised by SAGE. SAGE’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Notification of the Prize Winner will be via Twitter messages to the account he or she used to enter the Prize Draw. SAGE will attempt to contact the Prize Winner three times. In the event that a selected Prize Winner does not respond to SAGE within three days of the last message to them, SAGE reserves the right to draw or select (as the case may be) an alternative winner. In such circumstances, SAGE shall follow the same process as is contained in this Condition 5 to notify the alternative winner as soon as reasonably practicable.

The selected Prize Winner may be required to provide in writing: confirmation of their eligibility; a liability release; and a publicity release within fourteen (14) days of Prize notification. Should any doubt arise as to an entrant’s eligibility, SAGE reserves the right to withhold the Prize until such proof of eligibility and identity has been confirmed or, if such proof is not produced on request, to disqualify the entrant from the Prize Draw.

The refusal by an entrant to accept a Prize releases and forever discharges SAGE of all obligations related to the Prize, including delivery.

The Prize Winner will forfeit the right to the Prize, without compensation or recourse, if he or she does not agree to be bound by these Official Rules and/or does not meet the eligibility criteria.

LIABILITY

IN NO EVENT WILL SAGE, ITS RESPECTIVE PARENTS, AFFILIATES, SUBSIDIARIES, ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION AGENCIES, DEALERS, DISTRIBUTORS, SUPPLIERS, PRIZE PROVIDERS, TWITTER, INC. AND/OR FACBEOOK, INC. AND THEIR RESPECTIVE DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES AND AGENTS BE RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OR LOSSES OF ANY KIND (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES) ARISING OUT OF PARTICIPATION IN THIS PRIZE DRAW OR THE ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION, USE, OR MISUSE OF, OR ANY HARM RESULTING FROM THE ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION, USE OR MISUSE OF THE PRIZE.

PUBLICATION OF WINNERS

The public may obtain the name of the Prize Winner(s) by visiting Twitter where the Prize Winners’ names will be posted after the Prize Draw has taken place.

USE OF DATA

Information (including personal information) submitted in an entry will, unless specifically stated otherwise, be used by SAGE in accordance with the SAGE Privacy Policy, available at http://www.SAGEpub.com/privacyPolicy.nav. By participating in this Prize Draw, entrants hereby agree to SAGE’s collection and use of their personal information and acknowledge that they have read and accepted SAGE’s Privacy Policy.

All entrants agree that if they are a Prize Winner they will take part in any promotional activity reasonably requested by SAGE. By entering the Prize Draw entrants agree to: (i) the use of their name and geographical location being supplied in accordance with Condition 7; and (ii) the use of their name, image, entry and any other details and/or materials submitted as part of the Prize Draw in connection with the Prize Draw (including, but not limited to, announcing the results of the Prize Draw) and for any other promotional purpose as SAGE may deem appropriate.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

Any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connect with, this Prize Draw, or any Prize awarded shall be referred to arbitration by two persons (one to be named by each party) or their mutually agreed umpire, in accordance with the provision of the England Arbitration Act 1996 or any amending or substituted statute for the time being in force. Any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Prize Draw, but shall in no event include legal fees.

If for any reason the Prize Draw is not capable of running as planned, including for reasons of tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Prize Draw, SAGE reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify and/or suspend the Prize Draw and to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, violates these Official Rules, or acts in a disruptive manner.

In the event that the Prize Draw is terminated before the end of the Entry Period, SAGE reserves the right to award the Prize(s) by randomly selecting Prize Winner(s), in accordance with these Official Rules, from among all eligible, non-suspect entries received for the applicable Prize Draw up to time of such action.

If any provision of these Official Rules is found to be invalid by any court having competent jurisdiction, the invalidity of that provision will not affect the validity of the remaining provisions of these terms, which shall remain in full force and effect.

Prize Draws, these Official Rules and any non-contractual obligations connected to them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law. Subject to Condition 9.1, entrants hereby agree to submit to the jurisdiction of English courts in resolution of any issue under these Official Rules.
