Held at the Brewery in London on September 26, the annual awards ceremony celebrated dedicated professionals who continue to improve their skills and qualifications and do a fantastic job for young children. The lifetime achievement award, selected by the panel of judges, goes to honour those who have made an outstanding contribution to the field of childcare and early year education. We are delighted that for a third year in a row, a SAGE author has been recognised in this category.
Marion, pictured here on the right with Lesley Curtis of Everton Nursery School and Family Centre, was awarded the prize for her years of work as an independent educational consultant and early year specialist.
Marion has had varied career across the sector; involved in the pre-school playgroup movement, she taught in London and was later head teacher of a state nursery school. She was also an educational adviser in two local authorities, a member of Her Majesty’s Inspectorate, and has been involved in a number of government working parties on early years. She now works as a trainer and consultant in the UK and overseas and is vice president of Early Education, a national charity. Throughout this time, Marion has also published several books with us.
At SAGE, we believe passionately in the value of education and we are committed to supporting teachers and learning professionals in both the development of and publication of their research. We are thrilled that Marion’s work has been recognised in this way.
The evening, hosted by Barney Harwood of Blue Peter was by all accounts a great night, with the dancing and celebrating continuing late into the night!
Congratulations Marion and all those who won, we hope you had a fantastic time at the event!
