19 Hilarious comments overheard in the library

We had a blast last week at the 2015 ALA annual conference, a time for us all to share stories, ideas, and even laughter. We were delighted to host the “Laughs on us” event again this year, showcasing the talents of renowned comedian Paula Poundstone. Ahead of the event, we invited ALA attendees to tweet the funniest thing they’ve overheard in the library for a chance to win free tickets to the show.

HortonFramedSome of the tweets we received were silly, others offbeat, but all were hilarious. Today, we are delighted to formally announce our winner, Lia Horton, a Reference and Information Literacy Librarian at Saint Joseph’s College.

After ALA and the comedy show, we caught up with Lia, who raved, “The authors were great fun, and meeting Paula was a thrill!” She also shrewdly observed, “I think a lot of librarians find that a sense of humor is essential to the work we do.”

We agree! So have a chuckle at some of the best contest tweets below.
