SAGE announces winner for the 2014 ALPSP International Conference Travel Grant

alpspThis month we were delighted to announce the recipient of our 2014 ALPSP International Conference Travel Grant as Megan Redmond, Academic Liaison Librarian, London Metropolitan University.

Supported annually since its launch in 2008, the ALPSP International Conference travel grant enables a librarian or information professional to attend the conference and gain access to key industry discussions on the challenges faced by the librarian and information community.

The ALPSP Conference has become a pivotal conference for interaction between publishers and librarians, enabling open discussion to address the challenges faced in the current climate.

On receipt of the grant, Megan remarked;
“It is crucial for librarians to keep abreast of developments in publishing in order to prepare our services for change. In return, librarians have ideas and information to offer regarding reader preferences, budget constraints and academic trends. Attendances at conferences such as ALPSP are a big part of helping these conversations, thank you SAGE! News of the travel grant to enable me to do this was a lovely surprise. I look forward to attending the conference in September and meeting people in the publishing industry.”

We are delighted to be able to support Megan in attending this conference, and in part to help facilitate such industry dialogue and foster the ideas of collaboration and working together through this travel grant.

The ALPSP International Conference takes place this year at the Park Inn Hotel & Conference Centre, London Heathrow, between the 10th and 12th September 2014. Further details on this year’s conference can be found here. Keep your eyes on SAGE Connection post conference, as Megan will be providing us with her “insider’s perspective” on the themes and discussions explored at this year’s event.
