SAGE London’s holiday season donations

by Katie Metzler and Jovie McMillan on behalf of the SAGE London Connect Group

Every year, SAGE London gives away large donations at the end of the year to charities nominated and voted on by SAGE employees. This year, we donated £20,000 to a range of charities, in London and around the world.  War Child, which received the most votes, will be sent a cheque for £3500! This is a fantastic charity that protects children living in the world’s most dangerous war zones. The other charities we’ll be donating to this year are MSF, FORWARD, Greenlight Van, Westminster Society, Against Malaria, Victim Support, Christ’s Hospital, and Action on Hearing Loss.

In addition to our large donations, in the run up to the holiday season we ran a Christmas Hamper Fortnight, a Christmas Jumper Day and a Raffle (also known as “Ugly Sweater Day” to our US readers). Every year, SAGE staff donate warm clothing, toiletries, books and toys to distribute to two charities: Spitalfields Crypt Trust, a local charity working with homeless men, and Refuge, a national domestic violence charity helping women and children. This year, in addition to these charities, we collected food for the Tower Hamlets food bank, a charity who distribute emergency food for local people in crisis. We also raised £250 during this fortnight which will be distributed between the charities.

On Friday 13th, SAGE joined in on the Save the Children Christmas jumper day, raising £131.

A record £1,650 was raised in our Christmas raffle – all proceeds are donated to Crisis, the national charity for homeless people.
