I’m delighted to share information about a new acquisition completed in the SAGE London office at the end of July. SAGE has acquired Learning Matters – a leading independent academic textbook publisher based in Exeter, UK. It is a private company set up in 1999 by Jonathan Harris who will remain working with us as a consultant. Learning Matters titles cover key areas of SAGE’s textbook programme namely education, social work, nursing and health. This is a very exciting move for SAGE, and one we have long hoped to make happen. The Learning Matters list is a complementary model of publishing to ours, offering practical, accessible, student-focused, short, workbook texts, and adding a new channel of growth for SAGE, reaching new courses and adopters as well as new authors. Learning Matters publishes 80 titles a year.
