Today marks the first day of Peer Review Week 2017, the third annual occurrence celebrating the value that peer review holds in the academic community and its role in maintaining scientific integrity, this year with the theme Transparency in Review.
SAGE Publishing is once again taking an active role in the week – not only through our own content led activities, but also as part of the organizing committee.
So what’s going on? And how can you keep up to date?
Debates and discussions:
We will be sharing a variety of posts on SAGE Connection offering different perspectives on the current challenges of peer review for our authors, editors and researchers. Subscribe to SAGE Connection to get this content directly into your inbox or bookmark our Peer Review Week page where this new content will be added daily.
Later this week the 2017 Publons Peer Review Award winners will be announced, celebrating the the unsung guardians of science and research. SAGE are once again a supporting and sponsoring partner.
The category winners, from the top 1% of reviewers in each field to the top handling editors, will be announced at 10am EST, Tuesday 12 September and the winner of the Sentinel Award – for outstanding advocacy, innovation or contribution to scholarly peer review will be announced on Tuesday 19 September. Check out the shortlist, handpicked by an expert panel of judges, including SAGE’s very own Tessa Picknett, Executive Director, Science, Technology & Medicine journals (and watch out for a post later this week from Tessa about peer review ethics).
Will you be at the Peer Review Congress in Chicago? If so make sure you join the SAGE supported panel debate ‘Under the Microscope: Transparency in Peer Review’ at 5:30pm CDT on September 12th. If you won’t be there, don’t fret – the debate will be livestreamed on the @PeerRevWeek Twitter account. Tune in or watch out for the recording which will be shared after.
Let’s get social:
Happy Peer Review Week everyone!
