The world’s most exceptional free expression heroes will be coming to London on 21 March to collect their trophies at the Index Freedom of Expression Awards, hosted by Jonathan Dimbleby. These internationally renowned Awards are in their thirteenth year, and continue to be a key date in the calendar for the UK’s top journalists, artists, lawyers and human rights activists.
The Awards celebrate the astounding bravery and passion of individuals in asserting their right to freedom of expression, and we are incredibly proud to be principle sponsor of the event again this year.
The Awards recognise the fight for freedom of expression within the arts, journalism, advocacy and innovation. Last year’s winners included:
- Journalism – Idrak Abbasov a journalist who risked his life to bring truth to his countrymen in Azerbaijan
- Arts – Ali Ferzat, a Syrian Cartoonist whose hands were smashed by masked men trying to prevent his work
- Innovation – Freedom Fonean activist and part of The Kubatana Traut of Zimbabwe whose aim it is to make human rights and civic information accessible from a central electronic source
- Advocacy – Bahrain Centre for Human Rights
Be inspired by these heroes. Celebrate freedom of expression and book your table before all the tickets run out!
